Garraunboy Church. Garraunboy Catholic Church. The foundation stone was blessed by Bishop Michael Fogarty on 27 June 1909. Garraunboy Church was built of local sandstone and roofed with Killaloe-Ballina slates. The contractor was William Davoren, Ogonelloe and the Clerk of Works was John Scanlan of Criabh Ruadh (Creeveroe). On 18 December 1909, the feast of St. Flannan, the new church was blessed and dedicated to the Sacred Heart. The new Church of the Sacred Heart & St. Lua was opened to public worship on Saturday, 25th December 1909.
Canon Charles Scanlan's Grave. Canon Charles Scanlan's Grave in Garraunboy Churchyard, Killaloe. The inscription reads: Pray for the soul of Very Rev. Charles Canon Scanlan Garranboy, Killaloe (Late of the Diocese of Plymouth) who died 22nd April 1972 aged 82 years.
